Powhatan Housing Needs Survey Launches Today!

The first Powhatan Housing Needs Survey launches today, March 13, and adults who live and/or work in Powhatan County are asked to take a few minutes to fill out the online survey between now and April 19, 2024.

Distribution of this survey is led by a local steering committee with those who live and work in Powhatan. A local consulting firm, HDAdvisors, has been hired to administer the survey, through a grant from the Community Foundation. The questions will help the committee understand and collect public opinion on Powhatan’s housing needs.

“You can’t make good policy without good data, and one of the most important pieces of information we want to gather is what are the current and future housing needs of the residents of Powhatan County. Whether just starting a family or retired, young, elderly or middle aged, we need to hear from everyone.” said Powhatan County Administrator Bret Schardein, who serves on the committee.

Committee members will engage with the community at events and gathering places from today through April 19, when the survey closes. Survey information will be available this Saturday from 10 to noon at the Habitat ReStore and next Wednesday 10 to noon at the library. Participation in this study is completely voluntary. An individual may withdraw from the survey at any point. Responses will only be reported in the aggregate and will be fully anonymized. Survey results will be used to inform a Powhatan County Housing Needs Assessment Study.
