Joining forces for the 11th year, the Free Clinic of Powhatan and Habitat for Humanity-Powhatan will host their joint fundraiser, The Galloping for Good Gala, Sat., April 26, at Independence Golf Club, at 6 p.m.
Inspired by the excitement of the Kentucky Derby, this year’s event will feature exclusive items and experiences in live and silent auction packages, including vacation destinations ranging from Colorado to Kentucky, from local experiences ranging from
horseback riding to wine tasting. Entertainer/magician Chris Michael and auctioneer Brian Pontius will guide guests through the evening.
All Galloping for Good Gala proceeds allow the Free Clinic to continue providing medical, dental and behavioral health care to those who are uninsured or under-insured, and allow Habitat for Humanity-Powhatan to provide affordable mortgages and homes
as well as provide critical repairs to those in need.
Leading the gala planning committee are co-chairs are Jill Nalbach and Michelle Odden. “This will be both an inspiring and fun evening where the community’s generosity will be the true front-runner,” Odden says.
The event’s menu will blend the bold Southern flavors and the fresh, vibrant tastes of spring. With passed hors d'oeuvres and food stations scattered throughout the venue, guests can indulge at their leisure and savor every bite. Also signature cocktails will
be featured, the Mint Julep and Oaks Lily, the official drink of the Kentucky Derby. Guests also will enjoy after-auction dancing with music provided by local deejay Jamie Timberlake.
A big part of the Kentucky Derby is donning Derby wear – hats, fascinators and bow ties. Guests are encouraged to wear dapper Derby attire and compete in the best hat contest.
